Future Broadcasters Showcased on “Soundbyte”

DMC SpringThe next round of local television news, sports and weather anchors, reporters, and associated technicians required to produce and deliver a nightly newscast are learning the drill at the Digital Media Center at Southern Oregon Univeristy during spring term. After extensive training and some rehearsal runs, the first edition debuts today on all four RVTV Channels…9, 14, 15 and GP 21, at 10:30, 6:30, 12, and 5:30 pm, respectivley. “Soundbyte” will produce three editions in the next month, culimnating with a live show on June 3.

Soundbyte is the SOU student newscast informing viewers of events on the campus of Southern Oregon University as well as surrounding communities in the Rogue Valley. Soundbyte is produced by the VP 372 & JRN 272 classes taught by Howard Schreiber and D.L. Richardson, a collaboration of Video Production and Journalism students.  Soundbyte will have a regular time slot at 10pm each Thursday night on Channel 9, leading off the SOUP TV block, programming from SOU Students. And you can always check out todays debut edition on demand anytime here, where other SOU Student work is also available 24/7.

There is also live government business on the RVTV channels tonight. The Ashland Budget Committee continues it’s work for the fiscal year ahead at 6pm on Channel 9 while the Grants Pass City Council will also bring the gavel down at 6pm tonight on GP Channel 21 with a 6pm City Council meeting. The Ashland Budget Committee streams live on Channel 9 on the RVTV website, while both files will be posted on their respective city websites with-in 24-48 hours.
