RVTV Wishes Medford Mayor Speedy Recovery

Wheeler,_GaryCitizens of Medford and the staff of Rogue Valley Community Television are breathing a sigh of relief today after learning that Medford Mayor Gary Wheeler underwent emergency surgery Saturday night for a heart attack. The Mayor was released from Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center on Tuesday and plans to rest and recover this week before the Medford Budget deliberations begin next week.

A well-liked leader in his third term, Wheeler, 68, will turn over duties to Council President Al Densmore until he returns. We wish Gary the best in his recovery and work going forward. Wheeler hosts the Medford Mayor’s Conversation every other month on RVTV — his March edition can be seen here.

The Ashland City Council meeting from last night will playback at 2:30pm on Channel 14 today and is also available on the City of Ashland website. The help shelter and Homelessness Steering Committee were main topics of discussion last night, along with the 2013 presentation of the Ragland Volunteer Spirit Award to Roberta Stebbins and a report from RVCOG.

And the Grants Pass City Council meets tonight at 6pm with the meeting televised live on Channel 21 (click here for a replay of the April 3 meeting). The Council will discuss the Allen Creek Soccer Task Force and an agreement with the Active Club to increase power at Riverside Park. The meeting replays Friday at noon and Saturday at 10am on Channel 21 and again throughout the next two weeks.
