K9 police units are a fixture in departments nationwide. Highly trained canines put their powerful senses to work sniffing out drugs and bombs and sometimes joining in the chase and apprehension of criminal suspects. It takes special teamwork and training to form an effective K9 unit, and not every dog can make the cut.
