The Jackson County Board of Commissioners heard testimony both for and against a proposed Jackson County Library District at this mornings Business meeting at the Courthouse. The second and final required public hearing now complete, the issue will be referred to voters in the May 20 Primary election ballot. Testimony from this morning is available on the RVTV PEG Player.
At a rate of 60 cents per $1,000 assessed value, the levy would raise nearly 10 million dollars in the first year, and would allow libraries throughout the County to expand operational hours. The District would be overseen by a 5 member elected Board of Directors, should the levy pass in May.
