REAL TV, REAL PEOPLE: Watch RVTV's Government & Public Access archives for authentic local television from Southern Oregon

Public Access Newsletter – January 11

SPECIAL NOTE
As we are returning from our long winter hibernation, our producers/directors for this weekend’s productions are particularly concerned to see that their shows have enough crewmembers. Please contact them, and us, to confirm that you will be able to help out on either/both the morning and afternoon timeslots.

We’d also like to note that starting last week, we’re tracking volunteer hours under the new incentive program – so it is in your interest to volunteer if you’d like to receive benefits such as extra production time and first preference for studio timeslots in the Spring Quarter!

UPCOMING SCHEDULE NOTES
Equipment check-out is on Fridays from 3pm to 6pm. Producers are highly encouraged to reserve the equipment they need IN ADVANCE. To do so, please email Charles Douglas at douglasc@sou.edu or call (541) 552-6898. Equipment check-out is no longer available on Tuesdays.

Just a reminder…the studio production timeslots are all set for Winter Quarter 2013! We understand there were a few producers who didn’t make the quarterly producer’s meeting who may be interested in queuing up for any timeslots which open up. There is now a Waitlist for any producer WITHOUT a timeslot who wishes to be first in line to get the call if there is a cancellation for one of the Winter Quarter timeslots. Contact Charles to get on this list.

Also, don’t forget to mark your calendar for the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 – this will be the Public Access Night of our week-long Open House as we re-launch the RVTV facility as the Digital Media Center. We’ll specifically be reaching out to local non-profit and advocacy organizations to make them aware of the opportunities to get their messages out through RVTV, and to connect them to local producers like you!

Please get ahold of these producers IN ADVANCE if you would like to volunteer in the productions of their programs (and let RVTV staff know too). Here are the remaining studio production dates for Winter Quarter 2013:

RECENT PRODUCTIONS
In the first Cooking with Kumud episodes of 2013, Kumud Gokani brought her daughter and grandchildren over from England to the set for a special talk show about growing up vegetarian, along with another show where a delightful dish of Okra Curry and Chapatti was whipped up with the help of the children – certainly a good example to set for young people who need to learn good nutrition habits early.

Urban Kohler, who helped out with the morning production, swung into his producer role in the afternoon and hosted two episodes of his Perspectives On Wall Street And Occupy program; the first with historian and political analyst Gerry Cavanaugh and the second exploring Urban’s early work with Occupy back in Michigan, on the SOU campus and at the local Congressman’s office. Michael Rhodes deserves much credit for directing all of Saturday’s productions, teamed up with Michael D. Fox on graphics. Wes Brain also stepped in to help with Urban’s interview with the professor.
