REAL TV, REAL PEOPLE: Watch RVTV's Government & Public Access archives for authentic local television from Southern Oregon
A boxing legacy that began some 20 years ago in the Rogue Valley is flourshing once again, as former Bulldog Boxer Troy Wohosky, on the right in the Jamie Lusch MMT photo, is one of the founding partners in Spartan Boxing, a new training facility in Medford at the end of Welch Street off Jackson. Wohosky had a storied amateur career, and will enter the pro ring later this summer, after boxing helped him find the right direction at a critical time in life. Troy had shown early promise in the ring, but got involved in gang activity that landed him in trouble. His path back to a better life began when he signed up with Joe and Jim Pedrojetti and the Bulldog Boxing Club.
Troy, Eric Calhoun, and Kirby Barker are the three principals in Spartan Boxing, and all three will be live on Channel 9 tonight at 6pm to recap how Spartan Boxing came together and how potential life-changing opportunities are still available to area youth through the sport. All ages are welcome to become members and take advantage of the training facilities, and contact information is available at the Spartan Boxing website, here.
Wohosky remains committed to the mission outside the ring as well as a speaker at community forums on gang activity and working to identify youth who might benefit from the discipline and work ethic boxing demands. Tune in tonight, catch one of the replays, or check out the program online anytime on the RVTV PEG Player.
