Take Charge of the Symphony with the latest OLLI Forum

OLLIThe lastest Community Forum from our friends at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Southern Oregon University took place last week in Medford and is already posted and ready for viewing on the RVTV website here. Learn what it takes to keep an orchestra together and how the magic happens for the man with the Baton in his hand who leads the music. Dr. Martin Majkut, Musical Director of the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra since 2010, shows examples of the complicated scores he arranges and explores the nuances and styles of various conductors with video and audio clips. “The Conductor’s Art: the Magic Behind the Baton,” will be seen in rotation on the RVTV Channels over the next several months and is rotating currently with the Forum from earlier this spring featuring James Moore.

And a busy week of live events on the RVTV Channels kicked off this morning at 11:45am with the weekly City of Grants Pass Council Workshop on City Channel 21 and will continue tonight at 7pm as the Ashland School Board convenes for it’s regular monthly meeting on Channel 9. The School Board meeting replays Tuesday at 4pm on Channel 14 and several more times this month. It’s also available the next day online at the School District website meetings page here. GP Council workshops replay four times during the week, Tuesday at 6pm, Wednesday at 4pm, Thursdays at 8pm, and Saturdays at 2pm. On Tuesday the Ashland Planning Commission is live at 7pm on Channel 9, while Wednesday you need to be up an hour early to catch the weekly Jackson Co. Board of Commissioners meeting. It starts at 8:30am this Wednesday May 15, before returning to it’s regular 9:30 slot the following week. The Ashland Budget Committee goes live Wednesday night at 6pm on Channel 9, while the Grants Pass City Council televises live on Channel 21 at 6pm Wednesday. On Thursday the Medford City Council goes live at 12 and 7pm on Channel 14, while Mayor John Stromberg is in at 6pm on Channel 9 for another edition of Ashland Town Hall.

Keeping it live and fresh from the Community Media Mecca for the region, the Digital Media Center at SOU.
