REAL TV, REAL PEOPLE: Watch RVTV's Government & Public Access archives for authentic local television from Southern Oregon
The City of Medford joined forces with Jackson County and Southern Oregon University in 1995 to expand government and public access cable television in the Rogue Valley. Growing from one to three channels that year, the organization decided that a name change was in order, and Rogue Valley Community Television was born. The control room facility in the Hannon Library was expanded and updated to accommodate the additional programming, and in 2003 the facility moved to what is now the Southern Oregon Digital Media Center.
The City of Medford televises City Council meetings at Noon and 7pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month, Planning Commission meetings at 5:30pm on the second and fourth Thursdays, Medford Site Plan meetings on the first and third Fridays at noon, and Medford Urban Renewal’s monthly and special meetings. All meetings are broadcast live on RVTV Civic (Charter Cable Channel 181 / AshlandTV Channel 14) and are archived on the City website for viewing anytime. The City also produces three studio shows that rotate monthly: The Medford Forum, produced and hosted by the Council; Medford Mayor’s Conversation hosted by Mayor Gary Wheeler; and MPD: Your Police, Our Community, hosted by Chief Tim George. Watch LIVE studio programs on RVTV Prime (Charter Cable Channel 180 / AshlandTV Channel 9) weekdays at 6pm.
