Preparing for the Dry Summer Ahead: June Ashland Town Hall

Drought conditions were declared in Jackson County several weeks ago. Ashland residents, where water rationing is an issue each summer, will have to call on their conservation skills like never before in 2014. That was the message from Water Conservation Specialist Julie Smitherman and Public Works Director Mike Faught on the June edition of Ashland Town Hall hosted by Mayor John Stromberg.

The program takes you to reservoirs around the Ashland area that are already straining to keep up with outflow, and offers tips for citizens to help conserve water resources and reduce use. The City Council recently approved emergency funding to complete the TAP pipeline extension to Ashland, which will bring water from the City of Medford. That extension from Talent should be complete by August, and will complete line south that runs through Phoenix and Talent presently.
